Three Years Running: Our Commitment to the East Lake Foundation, On and Off the Course

If you’ve followed our journey at Sovereign Realty and Management, you know that “Community Impact” isn’t just a slogan; it’s a guiding principle. Last year, I shared what it meant for our team and our families to celebrate community at the East Lake 5K. You can revisit those reflections here.

This year, I’m proud to say that our commitment hasn’t wavered. In fact, it’s only grown stronger.

For the third year in a row, Sovereign had the privilege of sponsoring the East Lake Foundation 5K. Supporting this event isn’t just about race day, it’s about investing in the long-term strength and opportunity of our community. Every stride taken and every dollar raised directly support the East Lake Foundation’s mission: fostering education, affordable housing, and holistic wellness for our neighbors.

I often say, “Give where you live.” It’s more than a catchphrase; it’s a promise to stay engaged, to show up, and to lead by example. When real estate companies truly invest in the neighborhoods they serve, the impact ripples far beyond property lines. That’s the Sovereign difference, and it’s a responsibility I take personally.

This year’s race brought a special kind of joy for me as a mom. My own kids competed again in the Kids Fun Run. My twins, sprinting their hearts out, took home 2nd and 3rd place in the girls’ and boys’ races. Their determination at the finish line and the faces of all the kids reminded me why we do this work: to build a future where every child has the chance to thrive, celebrate, and succeed.

I would be remiss not to pause and honor the memory of Tom Cousins, whose vision, humility, and faith helped lay the foundation for the very community we celebrate today. Tom was more than a developer; he was a servant leader, guided by a deep belief that real change comes from investing in people and places with intention and heart. He understood, perhaps better than anyone, that true giving is done quietly, for the benefit of others and creating lasting impact.

Tom’s model has become a blueprint for communities nationwide, and his legacy lives on every time neighbors come together.

Thank you to the East Lake Foundation for your leadership and tireless investment in our community. Thank you to every runner, volunteer, and supporter who made this event possible. You are the heartbeat of our community.

At Sovereign, we’ll keep showing up—because running together, investing together, and growing together is how we create lasting change. I’m already looking forward to next year!
